Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: Labor day weekend???

I did get out today and flew to a grass strip fly-in that was an hour
each way.

Left at first light with the cool air silky smooth. Returned at midday
in the rough and tumble but it was all good.

Great bar-be-que, bomb drop contest, balloon prop pop contest, raffle
for prizes, many aircraft of various types and good hangar flying with
old and new friends. It was a good day.

But mostly I see what you have referred to. A lot of airports with
plenty of airplanes and no pilots to fly them. Not sure whether the
economy is totally to blame as those that live to fly seem to always
find a way to do it.

My personal opinion is that a lot of great flying clubs are vanishing
because they are now being run by people that want to be leaders in
the club but don't have a real desire for aviation or how it is
promoted. They are more interested in being in a "position" of
authority in a club rather than striving to bring people together for
the promotion of safe and fun recreational flying.

Free advice ... worth every dime!
