Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Labor day weekend???

I have seen this too. The airport where I have a tie-down has lots of open space. There are tie-downs with aircraft that will probably never fly again as well as junked construction & farm equipment and rotting truck bodies. One hangar that is usually open has a very nice UL as well as dust covered old delivery van. As expensive as tie-downs and hangars are (the hangar waiting list is so long, I probably would not live long enough to rent one), I would think that a self storage place would be less costly. Maybe the self storage places have rules banning eye sores? If I were renting a hangar, I would be approaching those of us with tie-downs to share space if we could fit. Expensive as hangar rents are, I'd be wanting to remove the junk and share costs.

Subject: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Labor day weekend???

I am really surprised as I went to our airport (KMIT) today. There were
only a couple of tenants there. Used to be on any weekend especially, that
the place was loaded with people, flyby's, and barbequed hangar yummies
all over the place. Lots of people to talk to and planes to look at. The
family was there with there kids and pets.

Nowadays the airport is nothing more than a storage place for un-used
aircraft and left over household crap. A place to park the mobile trailers
and cars that don't work anymore.

Is this unusual, unique to this airport? Or is this going on a larger
scale around the country? Sure isn't the way it used to be not so long
ago. Seems to follow the military pilots around here. As they age and
quit, so does the interest from the others. Very disappointing for the
future...

Maybe tomorrow will be different... Hope so. I'll CU there.
