Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: Engine choices

I have been involved with probably converting 20 to 24 Geo/Suzuki conversions. Some models of them (G13BB-16SOHC) come closest to matching the power to weight ratio of the Rotax 912ULS. However, they are still one-offs. Very hard to run a production line in that way and cannot do a S-LSA with them. They would be a good choice for a very price conscious 51% builder who knows what he is doing and is willing to put in a lot of time "not flying". They are still going to come at 23 pounds heavier than a 912UL at 85-90 HP for a reliable power-plant solution. Anyway, the last conversion I was involved with there was in 2004 (may be early 2005) I think.

I only brought up O-200 as an example because of KR-2. They do not use Rotax 912. I would go behind a well maintained 912ULS any day than a O-200.
