Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Cracked, with gun, was: Video: FAA resol..

Not at all the hanger glider people played an important roll in the development of the trikes, but the original Rogallo wing was very simple and the wings you use now are a much higher aspect ratio and have my leading edge cuff that was developed to increase the performance of kites flown by boy scouts. Tom Purcell also built a configuration on pontoons that he pulled behind a little hot-rod boat and we flew it on the James river, I drove the boat while Rog (Dr. Rogallo) flew the thing and Tom rode with me to tell me how Rog was doing.  We had a bunch of fun, My wife used my boat as a chase boat and took photo's and everything was fine until Tom told me to cut the power and let Rog make a dead stick landing and it did not work out, he bent some of the structure in a hard landing and we had to quit but we already had flown it a few hours. this was in 1966 and the wing was very simple the leading edge was just an aluminum tube and the aspect ratio was about half of the wings you are flying now but it was a good start and a lot of fut for little cost.

That's a weird comment.
That is like saying that hang glider pilots should still stick with Dr. Rogallo used in his original wing. That does not take away from dr rogallo but it also accepts development and enhancements
