Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Cracked, with gun, was: Video: FAA resol..

The VW conversions may not quite fit into production planes.  Then again all planes that fit into the LSA catagory are not production planes.  Many VW engines like the Great Plains engines have been around for a while.  They have a well proven reputation in the home built circles.  I'm not knocking trikes since I have never flown one.  I might like them better than fixed wings for all I know.  The KRs and trikes are separate classes of planes.  A KR is too fast to be in the LSA market.  My point is that they do sell well and have for quite a while.  It doesn't matter about the engine choice because that is up to the buyer or builder.  After all these years they are still fast and sellable planes.

Alternative engines are not an option for any liability or time/deadline conscious production company. They may (or may not) be options for one off 51% builders in the experimental market. You are trying to compare apples and oranges when comparing a KR-2 to a trike. Would you compare a Honda GoldWing to a Toyota Camry. Would that make any sense??

Some of your thought process suggests that you think trikes should be delegated to cheap, make no progress aircraft. I would despise that connotation as an avid triker.
