I don't understand what the problem is here. If it is an LSA you can fly it w/o a medical provided you didn't go and try to pass your medical after a heart attack. Just let your medical expire and fly under Sport Pilot rules. As for ethanol, I have been using it in a Flightstar and a Hurricane for years w/o any problems. So if you can self certify that you feel healthy enough to fly go and do it.
