Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group IFR SLSA

I have one other question. Before Sport Pilot came along, what would the
individual who has the Private license in his pocket been able to legally
fly after he let his Class III medical expire?

Ultralights only. .. Period.

Dwayne

Great to hear from ya!

Exactly right. With all its shortcomings, I'm actually glad it came along.
I'm very afraid it may kill triking because they quite possibly hadn't
gained enough critical mass to be self sustaining, but it has been a
blessing to the older fixed wing guys who wanted to continue flying, and the
guys who wanted to go to D (in particular) and maybe C (not as much) fields
and were previously denied they now have that privilege. I had even been to
some uncontrolled fields on a cross country where I was gently chastised for
not getting prior permission for ULs before stopping for gas because ULs had
been outlawed in the county! Aaarrgghhhh.... But now I'm N-numbered and
even Class D fields don't hassle me. (Unless they want their federal funds
threatened.)

Jim

PS. (They don't. I've noted they are sensitive about that. And much more
congenial.) And I do hope the trike community survives, because triking is
the most bang for the buck out there. (Editorial comment.)
