As a former excersise physiologist and at least a bit of an expert on body composition (I once calibrated the body-fat measurement water displacement tank for the fitness center at Scripps Institute executive fitness facility in LaJolla california) I agree with most of what you say below as to the unlikelyhood that someone can be 300 pounds, 6'2" AND also still really be low body fat.
That said, our big member bike-rider (think is name is Paul) is in my opinion to be admired and commended for what he DOES do.
(when he reports "I am 6ft and weigh 300 lbs. with a 42" waist.
I do 5 miles on the treadmill every day, I climb, I hike, I have hiked the grand canyon rim to rim carrying an 80 lb pack.")
Few people have that dedication and determination.
And if he's doing all that, (I take him at his word) it's possible he really can't get off much more weight in any healthy practical way.
That said, Helen nailed it, IMO:
Muscle or fat at 300 pounds 6'2" LSA's aren't a good choice, and viewing that as a prejudice and unfair won't help.
I'm 6foot, and a very light 140 pounds, (my body fat is about 10%, can probably still bench press my own weight at 70 years old. But if folks on the wrestlng forum tell me it I don't have a chance of making it into a Sumo wrestling school or into pro footbball, that's not their bias against skinny guys.. it's sound advice to get myself frustrated or even seriously hurt trying. My sports are more like skiing, hiking, river running (I fit REAL well in kayaks<g>).
Since Paul said "studying more really does not bother me two much since I am an engineer. and have already completed the ground school portion for private pilot" I think he's a really good prospect for a private pilot license.
