Sorry, but my reply to you was at the end of a 20 hour workday and was a little bit terse but you do get upset after a while when you hear the same thing over and over.
The efficiency of Pipistrel aircraft is proven throughout the world in many and varied efficiency competitions. These are not manufacturers make up numbers these are real world, real flying numbers.
My personal Pipistrel Sinus Burns 11.8 litres at 115 knots cruise, that is 3.1 US gallons per hour, I would use these numbers to carry sufficient fuel to fly across any ocean because this is what I get every single day of the week!
If I slow down a little bit to say 100 knots my fuel consumption drops to 9 litres per hour which is 2.4 gallons (and this aircraft is more than 100 pounds heavier than the Pipistrel ALPHA Trainer)(yes we are talking US gallons and not imperial gallons before somebody asks).
Have a look at the design, there are no wing struts, it is a complete laminar flow wing, it has negative flap, there are no metal rivets or anything else in the air stream. The aircraft have been designed from the very start for efficiency and low consumption.
It is not our fault that some magazines do not research the story enough or copy our press release Word for Word but the information was there originally saying that the introductory price was limited to the first 10 aircraft sold (which has now passed) as mentioned I will extend this to another five just to prove our intentions are honourable, and the only real difference in the price from the original $85,000 is now because people want Glass and they are simply paying the difference between analog gauges and glass
